We’re delighted to be working with professional teacher Catherine Harder to offer these workshops over the October half term for young people aged 10+. Using a DSLR is a fun step up for kids that love to take pictures with your phone! It’s both a hobby to bring joy and a skill to be taken at GCSE & A-Level. This workshop is suitable for total beginners and children who’d like to get off auto and refine their DSLR skills.

Tuesday: Exposure Triangle & How to Focus
Wednesday: Composition & Framing
Thursday: Colour Theory

Learn how to take control of a DSLR camera to capture the world around you. We’ll look at macro, portraiture, documentary & landscape photography, and use the beautiful surroundings of Painswick to inspire our creativity. Straightforward and not too techy teaching will get you up and running on day one! Come dressed for a wander in the village as we explore and create.

What’s included:
– User friendly Canon cameras
– 20 (4×6) prints on professional photography paper
– Private online gallery to print, share & download your photographs
– Colourful ‘How to Guide PDF’, covering the course
– Optional free book design & ordering for keen printers!

Catherine is a photographer with a passion for teaching children the art of photography. She’s currently teaching Years 5 & 6 how to use DSLR’s at Sheepscombe Primary School. She has previously worked in mental health research at University College London and organised public philosophy events at the London School of Economics.
