Who We Are
Serena Garde, Centre Manager
Serena has been the Centre Manager since the end of 2020. She is your first point of contact for enquiries and bookings.
Vivien Barr, Chair of the Trustees
For over 30 years Vivien has been a member of The Arts Society Painswick (formerly PADFAS), which meets in The Painswick Centre most months. She was elected a Trustee in 2018 and Chair of the Trustees in 2019, and can often be seen attending Wick-Flix screenings or helping out at the Fish & Chips nights.
Allyson Davis, Trustee
Allyson moved to Painswick in 1974, but before that she spent some years in South Africa at secondary school and then as a secretary. When her children were younger she was part of both the Playgroup and The Croft School parent committees, and later trained as a nurse. She is now a Senior Emergency Nurse Practitioner at Tewkesbury Minor Injuries Unit. Allyson became a Trustee a few years ago and is also one of the Wick-Flix Steering Group members.
Judie Hill, Trustee
Before becoming a Trustee in 2012, Judie was Chair of Art Couture Painswick (ACP), who staged five incredible annual festivals in the village, as well as opening a gallery in The Painswick Centre. ACP was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2018, and was an integral part of the artistic & creative flow which permeates this corner of Gloucestershire. Judie moved to Painswick in 2008 from Hong Kong, where she had been Head of Mathematics and then Assistant Principal in a school.
Martyn Smith, Trustee
Martyn moved to Painswick in 2001, and has worked largely in Finance throughout his career, sixteen years of which were with Dyson. He volunteered to become a Trustee when the Centre was looking for someone with finance experience. Martyn sits on the Resources & Maintenance and Fundraising subgroups, and is using his experience to help the Centre develop financial sustainability in the long term.
Dawn Tyson, Trustee
When she moved to Painswick in 2012 from a tiny rural community in Scotland, Dawn became just as involved in The Painswick Centre as she had been at her old village hall. She quickly went from willing friend and volunteer to minutes secretary and then Trustee, via a brief period as Centre Manager. Dawn is always willing to get her hands dirty and get on with any job that needs doing so is an invaluable asset to the Centre!
